If you have food in the fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of the world. If you have any money in the bank, your wallet and some spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture, or the horrible pangs of starvation, you are luckier than 500 million people alive going through this suffering. If you can read this message you are more fortunate than the 3 billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Do not take anything in this world that you have for granted - ever.

Great news! This is the label Fractured was on before closing in 2007 !

Dependent to reopen this summer, announces strategic partnership with Metropolis Records

The independent electronic label Dependent will resume operations in summer/fall 2009 and is forming a strategic partnership with the US independent label Metropolis records. Dependent stopped releasing new material in late 2007 due to the devastating effects music piracy has had on both artists and record labels and has not released any new material since.
Dependent owner Stefan Herwig comments on the decision to reopen: "We have constantly been getting encouraging mails from fans asking us to reopen or continue operations as Dependent. We were also surprised, as we did not think that our absence from the European industrial scene would have created such a noticeable gap, but I think that it has. I was particularly shocked to discover some absolutely amazing new recordings and newcomer bands being unable to find label support and getting lost in the vast pool of mediocre bands on the internet. This reopening would not be possible without the partnership with Metropolis Records which will see both labels merging significant portions of the artist rosters.
For example, Metropolis will give Dependent European rights to key artists like Front Line Assembly, strengthening our artist roster considerably.
Joining forces will also enable both Dependent and Metropolis to make extremely attractive distribution offers for both the European and North American territories. Dependent will also continue to sign and release its own bands as well as announcing joint signings together with Metropolis records.

For those of you outside of the area on my friends list and / or haven't heard - Savage Garden will be closing after an awesome run of about 15 years (for more info you can check their site http://www.savagegarden.ca) If you get a chance come out sometime before Jan 4.
I think DYM will also be playing a short set along with some other local bands that have played there in recent years on the final night.I've been djign there recently and I think I'll have a few more nights in before it closes. Keep ya posted on those ~

Nick, Mitchell and I got together for a Fractured practice for the first time in over a year yesterday which was pretty fun, and didn't go too horribly considering the time that's passed.
Nick's been busy writing new tracks and there's a couple up (nothing, tomorrow) on the Fractured myspace - so check them out.

Also DYM (with an unreleased remix) and Fractured (new track ) will be appearing on the upcoming Alpha Matrix V/A - "Endzeit Bunkertracks [act IV]" 4CD box

The time has come, the wait is over, the fourth [act] of one of the most successful and talked-about compilation concepts on the dark electronic scene is now ready to go to manufacturing and hit the stores on February 13th 2009! A new ultimate Endzeit experience of over 300 minutes of sonic extravaganza spread over 68 tracks on 4 discs.
Returning from the core of the Underworld, "Endzeit Bunkertracks [act IV]" again hits straighter and harder than ever before imagined by offering you another brainwashing selection of the best dark, harsh elektro and modern power noise acts active on the planet. The ultimate evil dancefloor conquerors all packed on some 4 (!!) full length CDs (including 60 out of 68 rare or previously unreleased exclusive tracks!) delivered to your hands.
The complete track listing below speaks for itself.Collapse )

The Invilid [Sep. 12th, 2008|07:34 pm]

This full length release from DYM, newly recruited to NoiTekk, has been long anticipated by their fans. "The Invilid" features uniquely enigmatic influences combined with ebm synths and the well-known harsh vocals favoured by the label's ranks to produce an album full of aggressive club anthems. These have been infused with a breakcore-influenced rapid-fire style percussion plus glitching and abrasive editing (inspired by rhythmic noise and breakcore acts such as Venetian Snares and Enduser). Lyrically DYM deal with their own opinions on current events, society's idiosyncrasies, its control, and the unsatisfactory conditions it results in. Their purpose from day one was to bring forth a new approach to the standard industrial sound. Stand alone, state of the art, heavily distorted, yet with a sharp and precise control over their technology, DYM will lead the EBM/Hellectro scene to the next level by bringing new influences to the genre. Co-Produced by Nick Gorman (Fractured).

Another reason not to get facebook- one of it's owners works with the CIA

[ The third board member of Facebook is Jim Breyer. He is a partner in the venture capital firm Accel Partners, who put $12.7m into Facebook in April 2005. On the board of such US giants as Wal-Mart and Marvel Entertainment, he is also a former chairman of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA). Now these are the people who are really making things happen in America, because they invest in the new young talent, the Zuckerbergs and the like. Facebook's most recent round of funding was led by a company called Greylock Venture Capital, who put in the sum of $27.5m. One of Greylock's senior partners is called Howard Cox, another former chairman of the NVCA, who is also on the board of In-Q-Tel. What's In-Q-Tel? Well, believe it or not (and check out their website), this is the venture-capital wing of the CIA. After 9/11, the US intelligence community became so excited by the possibilities of new technology and the innovations being made in the private sector, that in 1999 they set up their own venture capital fund, In-Q-Tel, which "identifies and partners with companies developing cutting-edge technologies to help deliver these solutions to the Central Intelligence Agency and the broader US Intelligence Community (IC) to further their missions".

The US defence department and the CIA love technology because it makes spying easier. "We need to find new ways to deter new adversaries," defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in 2003. "We need to make the leap into the information age, which is the critical foundation of our transformation efforts." In-Q-Tel's first chairman was Gilman Louie, who served on the board of the NVCA with Breyer. Another key figure in the In-Q-Tel team is Anita K Jones, former director of defence research and engineering for the US department of defence, and - with Breyer - board member of BBN Technologies. ]
